I never stated that it was brand new. I'm just surprised how a pump that cost $800 rusts out like that
I do understand now that it is a defect. Thanks.

I wouldn’t say defected. Over the years I’ve had 3 vortech wet sided fail on me. Price is just a number. I’m pretty sure your going to have to buy a new wetside and sense the pump isn’t new ecotech isn’t really going to do anything for you other then tell you can purchase the wetside from them.
They look to be about $200 too

my first one they sent me a replacement but I was just out of warranty. The rest that have show rust signs on the shaft they gave me a discount on the replacement.

I’ve never had one bust like that. For sure hit them up because they are usually very good to work with.

Yes he’s right if it’s out of warranty they will still give you a discount ?

EcoTech replaced one of my MP40's wetside earlier this year. I just had to send them a copy of my sales receipt (I might've paid shipping both ways?) that I purchased in 2017. I never soak the magnets/props in citric acid or vinegar, just rinse and scrubbed under tap water. I had some extra cages that I would swap out for clean ones and soak the dirty ones in citric acid, but never the magnets. And still, mine rusted all on their own. But to your point/title of the thread, mine supplemented my iron dosing with a heavy dose of copper and RTN. Thanks Ecotech!
