Thanks for sharing this. First I have heard of this method. I found the thread on the other forum (y). Hope to have a natural split in the near future.

what kind of sponge is that

may have to try this
just a regular sponge without any chemical

Lol, after reading this, I just tried to leave a pipe under the nem’s root. Hopefully, it will not split and leave the rock.

you'll need to cover it with a sponge, it'll will just move around it.
can somebody explain what's going on, what's the trap about, and how it works?

Cut a hole in the sponge for the pipe to go through, the sponge covers the entire body of the nem and the pipe is the only path to the light/out. Mine took 3 day for it to come out. The pipe is smooth so you can just push it out of your finger.
