I got a really good batch this week. 6 different strains of phytoplankton in my mix.

Nannochloropsis:
is extensively used in the aquaculture industry. It grows in a wide salinity range and has significant nutritional value because of its high content of protein and polyunsaturated fatty acids, especially eicosapentaenoic acid.

Tetraselmis:
is a good source of vitamin C and vitamin E. It Also has enough carbohydrates (about 27% of its weight) to meet the metabolic energy needs of the animals that feed on it. The starches it produces are quite similar to those synthesized by land plants.

Isochrysis:
"The golden-brown algae" contain the pigment fucoxanthin, giving them their golden hue. The high lipid and DHA content of T. lutea make it popular as an aquaculture feed for animals such as bivalves, crustaceans, and zooplankton.

Thalassiosira weissflogii:
has important uses in the aquaculture industry, where it is used widely to feed shrimp and shellfish larval stages in hatcheries and is considered to be the best microalgae for shrimp larval stages.

Chlorella:
is high in protein and other essential nutrients. it's about 45% protein, 20% fat, 20% carbohydrates, 5% fiber, and 10% minerals and vitamins.

Dunaliella:
is a unique unicellular species of algae containing rich concentrations of carotenoid enzymatic pigments (mainly Beta-Carotene), antioxidants, essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals & trace elements

To think some think thats where we started. As dots we see on the back glass of our tanks. Somehow evolved into walking, talking, seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling rulers of the world.

Watched a video about a week ago. Said they believe Phytoplankton contributes more to the environment than trees. Amazing the largest animals on earth/in the ocean live on those micro organisms and able to get enough to live on.

For sure, man. Phytoplankton is the basis for life in the ocean. The very base of the food chain.

Half gallon sold!

These are strong cultures that I’ve grown from a Petri dish. The Thalassiosira and the Isochrysis where purchased from a reputable source (they where pricey).

This is how phytoplankton should look like

Thanks! Gotta play with the microscope a little more to get a clearer image. This one has way more adjustments than the one I was using before.

The amscope b120. I really like it so far but it has a ton of adjustments, which is cool, but it makes it that much harder to focus

Awesome reefer with great phyto. I have yet to see cultures as dark as what Eve consistently sends me. Shipping and communication is top-notch!
