List some of your back up solution and or redundancy items you have around. For me it’s a back up generator and solar battery pack

I don’t have space and can’t rationalize getting the generator I would want, but if anything happened, I would hope I can rent one at Home Depot

Yeh got to love the duel fuel generators with the price of gas now propane would be best choice to run those generators

None for me. Outages here are usually short on offs. Breakers and switches in the system quickly fix them. Way too frequent for where we live in the middle of a city. Maintenance issues I’m sure being a retired lineman on the communications side but well familiar with their system. Tree trimming isn’t as often as it use to be. Our last home never had an outage unless planned for maintenance. This regime of the big conversations years ago about solar. People spending $60,000-$80,000 on systems thinking they got bargains and how they lowered their bills while somehow taking a second on their homes.
I believe if you have a simple system the thoughts(worries) are lower on the expectations list. People say they have battery powered air pumps for oxygen reasons. Should have an internal air Venturi skimmer to go with it. My thoughts are these these fish for most parts are shipped from around the world in bags for hours and days, they be fine for a time in an adequate aquarium. Just make sure you have equipment that restarts without issues and your system can self contain itself.
I’m going to start a new post to coincide with this one. Look for it.

UPS Battery backup for pump if it lasts over an hour no heater/fan
Inverter that I can connect to my car battery to run a heater/fans/chiller and a pump. If longer...

Happens maybe once or twice a year.. and I have never had to use it.

Generator

Sorry don’t have a pic of the generator but you can see it behind the squat machine. 3600w

I also designed my tank so that the eb8s don’t plug directly into the wall they plug into several power strips and are easy to access. I also bought a commercial grade 100’ extension cord the same ones they use on construction job sites. This is so I can put my generator out back and run the cord to my tank. I also bought a few other extensions cords one that will run to the refrigerator and one that will run to the snakes tank.

Absolutely, I think backup generator as insurance for a car, you won’t need it until you really need it in. Sure fish and corals get ship in bags sometimes they make it something they don’t if after a couple days it’s never 100% survival rate. Generally speaking tanks have more bacteria which needs oxygen to survive and thrive which aids the break down of ammonia and other organic waste (fish pee, poop, coral poop, etc) so if a mass die off of bacteria happens because there was not enough flow in the tank it can crash. Also, fish bags doesn’t contain much bacteria in the water for bacteria to die off, and generally speaking fish that are shipped are usually not fed for a few days so they can’t produce much waste, for it be an issue which after a day or so. Perhaps maybe after 2 days or more in a form of ammonia spikes.

I was going to say are you generating power as you work out? Lol… speaking of power cables have you seen those flat power cords that fit between the doors threshold so you can keep the door closed?

So I bought this one on Black Friday off the WEN website for like 500-600$. I have never really had power outages , and now it seems like they are doing a lot of maintenance around me. This year alone I’ve had 3 outages. I guess I bought it at the perfect time.

So now I’m having an electrician connect a manual transfer switch (I think that’s what it’s called) that way when ever the power goes out I simply run a cord from my generator to my electrical panel and power my house. Wife asked during the last outage why the tank had power and we didn’t .

We've got mobile vans that utilize generators. My plan is to snag one of those if need be.
