Just came back from my Ensenada Cruise.

Bought some for myself and a little extra if anyone wants.

$65/bottle.

is it legal to be selling cipro?
I sure hope not. You can buy it as “fish cipro” for $1.50-$2 a pill. I got my last batch on Chewy.com. 25 pills almost cost me $50.

Be Careful. I believe certain antibiotics are illegal to import without a prescription. Might possibly be due to certain risks such as the black box warning of possible tendinitis/tendon rupture in the case of cipro use in a certain population.

Ah! Good to know.

Guess I got lucky this time. No one checked the couple bottles I got.

Will have to get a prescription ahead of time next time.

So this won't work for my Achilles Tang?
I dunno. Most people use this as an antibiotic for corals.

It’s broad spectrum so if you dose the tank, you’ll have to go through the new tank syndrome and reseed your bacterial colonies.

If I’m a QT, I’m sure it’ll help. It’s like how some use furan-2 and melafix in addition to other stuff to dip corals.

But if your tang is infected with a fungus or virus, an antibiotic won’t help.

Cipro is basically a strong broad spectrum antibiotic.

Sorry. Just joking. I thought it might rupture his achilles.

Cipro is used a lot to cure sick anemones mainly Gigantea, Hadonni and Heteractis magnifica and works wonders for them.
If you can get a prescription from a Vet for your dogs then a bottle will cost less than $10 or get it from Chewy.com for around $0.50 each pill but you need a prescription from a vet. For humans a bottle of Cipro is a few dollars providing you can find a Dr to write you a prescription. There was a reefer here a while back who was a phamarcist and would call in a CVS for you for a bottle of Cipro but he is long gone.

Chewy not longer has the big quantity ones where it’s cheaper than $1/pill for non-prescription ones.

Plus, factor in shipping or buying 60 for $80+tax is the cheapest I’ve seen lately.

The prescription ones though are definitely cheaper but none of my vets will give me a prescription without me taking them in for an expensive checkup. And even still, won’t just sign prescriptions.

Not sure if a pharmacist wants to risk his license so we can save a couple bucks. Lol.

In any case, I’m glad I don’t have to ration my cipro. I’ve been using it to dip all new corals. And have been doing the KFC whole tank treatment.

Dealing with a little algae and some cyano for a few days but all my euphyllia are puffier. And seems to have halted some of my zoa colonies from melting.
