I will be organizing another group buy from ReefCleaners. If we can get 4 group buyers, then that will reduce the $45 cost of shipping to $11 per person. With 5 buyers, $9pp, etc. Overnight UPS shipping is much better for the inverts, particularly crabs, shrimp and anything more sensitive (urchins?).
Tentative dates for arrival are Oct 3rd/4th (preferred) or Oct 17th/18th (I'm in Senegal on the week between).
My protocol for group buys is simple:
1. Send me your order, I will place the order
2. On the day of arrival (usually 10:30am at my Irvine office), I will take account of all inverts received and count DOAs
3. I will adjust your payment by what arrives alive + split shipping
4. Pick up at my Irvine office near Spectrum, and pay me by Paypal or Venmo or Cash at pick-up
5. If acclimation of the inverts is needed, (e.g. nasty bag water, delay in pick-up, etc), I will acclimate them to new saltwater at 1.026sg
6. Monitor your inverts and let me know of any strange deaths, and I will talk about it with John at ReefCleaners to see about refunds
If we end up with 7+ group buyers, we might have to get two shipping boxes, which brings us all back to $11pp, but that's something we have to analyze based on #s and size of orders.
