thank you so much for the info. I’m currently running skimmer 24/7. You’re suggesting I turn it off the whole treatment?
The article didn't talk about skimmer use, so entirely possible you can go ahead as usual. I don't know much about skimmers or what exactly they pull out of the water. Since it's only a 6 day treatment, I would probably err on the side of caution and turn it off. But if I knew more about what is skimmed from the water, I might be more confident in keeping it running or not. Turn off any UV you are running--that will degrade the cipro and diminish its effectiveness.

so far I just did first dose. I have a 73 gal with about 20 gal sump (12 gal of running water) = 85 gal total ~320 L. After the calculation I dosed 4 mL of cipro, please let me know if I did it right. Light and skimmer are off, took out carbon. I was reading the article and the person refrigerate the cipro. Did you do that too?

Yes, I also refrigerated cipro and best if protected from light, so I foil wrapped the tube. That might be overkill since it's usually dark in the fridge, unless people are opening and closing a lot.

Also I’ve been dosing nopox. Do you know if it’s still safe to dose it?

NOPoX feeds bacteria… prolly best not to dose cause the whole point of cipro treatment is to reduce e bacterial numbers.

Keeping skimmer on is fine but usually I turn it off the first hour after a cipro dose (it goes crazy sometimes).

Thank you. Did you also have all the lights off?

Yes, I dose at night after the lights turn off.

Supposedly the antibiotics will start to neutralize when the next day comes at first light any way.

I also stir parts of my sand (top half inch), if they clump.

After that do you have your light back on or the light off for the whole treatment?
