You take the dry rock and cure it. Being that you have little money and he is offering the rock free that is a good deal. This is not a cheap hobby and I would take what you can get.

What was your bad experience with AIM. If you have not stopped by in the last year you would be surprised by the inventory. Also just remember that LFS's are the staple of the hobby.
