    Scmas meeting 2.17.2017

Honestly... 0%. It's not as hard to make the meetings as you might think. We have a member that comes down from running springs, 3 that come up from San Diego, and even one that flys down from Alaska. I used to live in the IE so I know you can make it if you make the commitment.

    Aquaforest Reef Salt

A 20% water change of water that has a Alk of 9 would take a tank with an alk of 8 bringing it up to 8.2. A 20% water change of water that has a Alk of 13 would take a tank with an alk of 8 bringing it up to 9. This is part of the reason that I say any salt will work fine since a water change...

    Bryopsis vs Magnesium Challenge

First I have heard of that! Where did you get that info Miguel? I have heard from very reliable source that it was an impurity found in their magnesium supply. This was why it was only the Kent product that worked. Most everyone else uses a higher grade of magnesium for their supplements...

    KH Guardian Alkalinity Monitor

Good luck with that. Everyone of these hobbyist monitors seems to be using the same tech to get this done. They all want to talk about a patent and such but reality is the information on how to do this is out there on the internet. If you have the technical background, it can be done. Jim...

    Siporax Discussion

I assume you mean N&P? The bacteria won't die. It just won't replicate until they have all that they need (ie: Nitrogen, Phos, & Carbon)

    Siporax Discussion

define better! With zeo, they claim there are things that get absorbed deep into the rocks. I have no ideas if that is marketing mumbo jumbo or just the pores becoming clogged. if it is just the pores becoming clogged, then I suspect you could replace the zeo rocks with Siporax or even...

    Siporax Discussion

Sera actually never pushed Siporax. In fact they had discontinued it. Once it caught on with reef keepers, we started buying up all the remaining batches. They caught on to the demand and just recently started producing the product again. With the removal of sand beds and minimalist scapes...

    Siporax Discussion

They have the same denitrifying properties. The pore sizes on siporax is much smaller than zeo and cannot become clogged. Zeo is a natural product and due to it's larger pore sizes, it becomes clogged and shaking the rocks can no longer help. This is why you periodically must replace a...

    Siporax Discussion

Lifespan should be indefinite as buy design it cannot be clogged.

    Siporax Discussion

Here is what I found when I was researching the media. Sera Siproax surface area 270 m2/L (this also may be a gross underestimation) Due to the small pore size, the pores do not clog. Pretty much legendary for it’s trouble free performance Seachem Matrix surface area >~700 m2/L Although...

Fritz RPM salt dkh .... help

If you are not mixing the entire contents of the box, you are not really able to make the diagnosis that there is a problem. Salt elements can settle during transit. It is always best to buy salt that is packaged in the quantity that you will be mixing.

    Do You Ever Wonder...

I take it you have never seen an export list from an exporter. Almost every sps coral is named by species and sometimes by their common name like "strawberry shortcake." Keep in mind that some of the deepwater species are now banned. Still those species are being imported from time to time by...

    Post MACNA

I agree 100%. Funny thing is, at RAP Orlando and RAP New York, they did display the Vervve over a small rimless cube.
