Hahahaha poor home owner. Fish tanks are not covered under homeowners insurance it's considered black water. I upgrade my tanks every 5 to 8 years. Big and bigger and they of shit size. Next tank 350g then 700g. 144X36X26 DREAM SIZE. I have a 13ft hole for it.

Personal preference is all it is my tank is over 8 years old was sitting dry for 2 years silicone was still perfect. Cleaning coraline algae is way easier on glass vs acrylic. I like quick maintenance and easy clean up. Built my frag tank out of glass and sump out of acrylic.

A scratch in glass can be polished out with grit. Yes glass does have a bead of silicon holding together. Personal experience my toddler smashing a Toy against my 180g AA tank left gouges. Hahaha I even told my wife "That will not buff out" went out and bought my 225g glass new for $500 couldn't...
