I've used Dr. Tim's and Microbacter over the years. Once to cycle. I prefer Dr. Tim's. Dr. Tim has a kit complete with ammonia which I haven't used it but plan to soon. hth

I'm bringing my old DIY ATS back for a new tank that's cycling atm. Just have a clamp on LED flood light, 5k I think. Skimmers, IME, aren't sufficient. I gotta check out your site for LEDs.

Hard to see in the picture but if there's any brown, long stringy strands it's dinos. I read an article about raising the tank's temp to 82 for a week or 2 to kill them. Theory is, in the past, with metal halides, our tanks got hot, preventing dinos. I added a filter with fine filter floss too...

for fleas there are a few options ime. I have/had dogs and cats so we treat them. For the house I use "insect trap" which is a sticky trap with led light. Works great in rooms with hw and carpet. I hate blood sucking parasites, lol.
