Pretty frightening picture of what our ocean may look like in 2100

No doubt science changes... that's what makes it science instead of dogma or a philosophy. But when sufficient empirical data is observed, theories are tested in the real world and found to be essentially accurate deny something is irrational. It is the minds of "non scientists" like the GOP...

Pretty frightening picture of what our ocean may look like in 2100

Everyone else gets it regardless of their politics around the world. I mention England and Germany because they both have conservative governments. We reefers should be on top of this given our understanding of water chemistry, animal husbandry etc. I'm a bit older than most and have seen the...

what's the best manufacture solar panels?

^ this. I looked at half a dozen companies. The only two I'd recommend/use without hesitation are RGS solar and Sungevity. RGS was the first to sell panels in the U.S. (I believe in the 1970s) and Sungevity is large/established and reputable. Solar City is more hustle and has been scamming...

    How to clean sock filters?

I use oxyclean which I've found to be easier on the socks than bleach. Years ago I put a sock in a bucket of bleach to soak, forgot about it, and came back to one kinda dissolved sock, lol.

Question for LFS owners - how will water restrictions affect you, or do they?

Yeah not getting a glass of water at restaurants won't solve jack. Limiting oil/gas industry from fracking (which we don't need if you looked at oil supplies/stock prices lately) which wastes billions of gallons of water which gets used on our food is one solution for sure imho...

    Eunicid worms

If you're sure it is a eunicid I'd take the rock out and place it in fresh water. It's worked for me twice. I actually kept one in a 5 gallon tank. I'd entertain my kids friends by dropping in some shrimp... but I only knew it was eunicid because it was munching on my coral. I've had huge...

    Corals bleaching

Good suggestion. +1 the carbon/light being the issue. I had this happen before. Changed out carbon (after letting it go for months) and bleached all my sps which were prolly already stressed from poor maintenance.

    Nephthea coral

I have several in a mixed reef under 14k 150 watt halide. They now take up 1/3 of the tank... actually the one large one is in high flow, less light and isn't as happy as the others so I suspect high light medium flow is preferable. Good luck but they seem pretty hardy ime.

    HELP! I'm stumped corals dying

I've had problems GFO leading to bleaching and STN imho. So, I no longer run GFO on any of my 3 tanks, and upped my water changes to 10% per week. But all my sps are milli's, lime in the sky and easy ones. I have more algae but corals seem to be happier, lol.

Bryopsis. how do you deal with it?

Only thing that worked for me was tech m. Dosing till mag hit close to 1800 for 3 months! I tried kent and BRS mag since I had them on hand and no results. Nasty stuff. Only thing that kills it (before disposal) is freezing it.

    Help with algae

Not sure what you have but I had a massive bryopsis problem in one tank and tech m worked. It took nearly 3 months, mag at around 1800 and several small patches grew back when I stopped dosing. I treated the area with kalkpaste. I think the tech m killed all the hair algae too.

    zoas and nems bleaching/losing color

Also, it sounds crazy but you may be running your LEDs to high. I have a 20g breeder with a OceanRevive LED and am only running blues at %15 and whites at %5. On top of this with your alk at 7 this probably could be the issue Agree with this statement especially alk issues.

    Smoke!!!!!

One of my greatest fears. I've heard this about Rio pumps since I got in the hobby 16 years ago. I had a power strip burn up once; literally burned up. Burned up my pan world pump too. Thankfully my smoke alarms were working. Didn't trip my GFCI so I changed the outlets, bought quality...

    Anyone ever re-silicone a tank?

I've just resealed and not rebuilt in most cases. I've also replaced chipped panels. If you break the entire thing apart I'd use a fine sandpaper to clean the edges of each panel. This will ensure all the old silicone is removed. If you reseal, as I've done with half a dozen tanks, I'd clean...
