Great start! A good size tank to start with. Seems like you are heading in the right direction. IMO, equipment is evertything in this hobby. I remember when I first start out trying to safe a few dollars on equipment but endup upgrading them anyway.. Keep us posted.

On other note.. black back would make your tank looks amazing.

with LED, you can keep anything you want but mixed reef is not a bad idea either. I have a mixed reef myself and love it.. SPSs on top and mid with softies on bottom. I also have clam and lps on my sandbed. Looks more natural that way..
