Free Acrylic Sump with huge refugium

Sorry I don't have pics of the sump on me. Also, FCFS. Trying to de-clutter the garage so won't be holding it.

Free Acrylic Sump with huge refugium

Cleaning out my garage and used this as a holding tank for new fish. It's beat up but fully functional. The front side is a refugium and the rear has two chambers for filtration. roughly measures 24d x 30l x 20ish H. Also, have an aluminum 80/20 stand that's roughly 24d x 30l x 30+h. Sorry...

    Flow

Agree with everyone else. I'd even say the sock is optional. You can always run carbon to help polish the water. If anything, maybe start dosing bacteria in a bottle after you remove the bioballs to help prevent an ammonia spike

    Newbie Starting 5G Reef

Except for the sexy shrimp, I wouldn't try to keep any multiples of shrimp in a 5g tank.

    Newbie Starting 5G Reef

You can keep a single shrimp as they probably will get territorial in a small 5g. But as long as there is enough food, you can add in a bunch of snails and hermits. Gobies and pistol shrimp pairs are really cool in tiny tanks

All my SPS is turning green

I agree with Jose. You should get your water chemistry tested. It could be a a surplus/deficiency in a particular trace element. Which Radion preset are you using?

2part dosing how much can I dose at once?

I wouldn't worry too much about ph being the issue. To be safe, test your alk prior to and then 20 min after test again and see how big of a jump it is. Also, check to see if you don't get precipitation by just dosing the alk all at once. Also, make sure to dose in a high flow area.

Old system to new system advice

I'd say start buying ur live rock sooner than later and some rubbermaid bins. You'll need the bins later to do the transfer but for now you can start curing the live rock. When the time comes, drain the tank and save as much good water as you can. Then move the coral and rock into the bins...

    AEFW with Purge?

one of the SCMAS members was one of the first public trial members. @Rakie was the one and is on this forum every so often. You should pm him. I know he had mixed results in the beginning but wasn't sure of the outcome for him.

    Corner Tank Sump Dilemma

What dimensions are you working with? IMO small fuges won't do much for nutrient control and either skimmer mentioned should have no problem handling a 50ish gallon tank. Doesn't hurt to keep the space in case you decide to run reactors later on or add ceramic media for nutrient control

ISO someone to paint an Aquarium stand White and waterproof it

Unfortunately a decent paint job on the stand will probably cost more than than buying a new white stand. Maybe look into vinyl wrapping the stand for much less?

    How do you acclimate SPS

I cut off all SPS from frag plug or base or cut as much as I can and scrape off what I cant. Then do a Bayer dip. Swirl in clean saltwater twice then into the tank.

    Skimmerless

I'd say if the corals and tank are happy then keep the skimmer in. Another thing the skimmer helps with is oxygenation and maintaining Ph.

Frozen fish food? Do you drain?

I used to thaw in a cup of water then dump it in but after forgetting about it so many times and coming back to a small cup of stinky stuff, I went to just tossing it in straight. Fish don't care. Used to add selcon and all that stuff too but I think as long as the diet is varied then there's...

    Good or bad?

It sucks, but it's a pest that can easily be removed vs the other reef tank nightmares out there.

    Good or bad?

Don't underestimate treating for these. Siphon out as much as you can, and if you think you got as much as you can, do it again. They are very toxic when they die. Flatworm Exit works very well but make sure to have as much water ready for a WC as possible. Even better if you can treat the...

Instant Ocean vs Red Sea Pro vs ??

I use Brightwell because the parameters on that salt are the parameters I aim for on my tank. Also, always make sure to mix your salt around prior to making SW regardless if it says to or not. Not mixing can affect the consistency of the parameters and potentially ruin a whole box of salt...

    Heater/ chiller talk!

Glad you found the issue. Sucks that it was due to broken equipment of the expensive kind. 72 is cold but not terrible. I've known tanks that kept that temp during the whole winter without any issues.
