Ok, I think I figured it out. For anyone else who might come to this same problem. I figured that no matter how big the air gap is, if you suck 1ml into the syringe, it should be 1ml. (cap size might have varied when Red sea first made the instructions?)

I have the liquagen from Amazon. Priced very well, but is not very efficient. If I did more research, I would have gone with something more efficient. It seems like it wastes alot of water.

Stopped by the other day. Very friendly worker/owner? Did not have many fish in stock. A good amount of coral, but nothing really special. Mostly basic stuff.

My ghost skimmer works very well. (10 gallon nuvo fusion) Pulls out thick gunky stuff with a bad smell. If you have room and the money, might as well. Every little bit helps.
