These are way better for biopellets performance wise. They're also a much more premium feel, with all thick acrylic, no molded pieces. For GFO (phosban) I would get a different reactor. I use the two little fishes for carbon, and will get a second for GFO.

I have the normal sized AquaMaxx GFO and Carbon Filter Media Reactor with 3/4" barb fittings and no sponges, just the top and bottom screens. Worked great as a bio pellet reactor. $40

At both Osh and Home Depot the ball and gate valves are in a separate section from the all the normal PVC fittings. They are in the aisle with all the copper valves and JG fittings.
