I added a 2 little fishies phosban reactor full of seachem carbon and hated having to use flashlight to see if the carbon was tumbling properly. It's pretty dark under my stand, especially with the light in the tank being so bright up above. So I got some water resistant led rope light, and...

AquaMaxx GFO and Carbon Filter Media Reactor

There's also an aquamaxx GFO reactor that would be good for GFO, but it's different from this one.

AquaMaxx GFO and Carbon Filter Media Reactor

These are way better for biopellets performance wise. They're also a much more premium feel, with all thick acrylic, no molded pieces. For GFO (phosban) I would get a different reactor. I use the two little fishes for carbon, and will get a second for GFO.

AquaMaxx GFO and Carbon Filter Media Reactor

Also here is a better explanation of what a reactor does, and why it's better than just media bags in a canister filter or the sump. When using media bags water has a tendency to push itself around the outside edges of the media, compacting it and reducing its usefulness. A reactor pumps the...

AquaMaxx GFO and Carbon Filter Media Reactor

I ran it tee'd off my return pump in my sump. You can also run it or several with a small, stand alone powerhead. You do need a valve before it to control the flow. I'm selling it because I stopped running bio pellets. My bio load wasn't high enough to really have a nitrate problem, but I had a...

AquaMaxx GFO and Carbon Filter Media Reactor

I actually just realized that this never came with sponges, as it is the biopellet reactor, not the media reactor. The difference is it has a special cut bottom that swirls the pellets instead of just a diffusion plate, allowing them to be kept suspended with less flow. It also has larger...

AquaMaxx GFO and Carbon Filter Media Reactor

I have the normal sized AquaMaxx GFO and Carbon Filter Media Reactor with 3/4" barb fittings and no sponges, just the top and bottom screens. Worked great as a bio pellet reactor. $40

    Gate valve

At both Osh and Home Depot the ball and gate valves are in a separate section from the all the normal PVC fittings. They are in the aisle with all the copper valves and JG fittings.

Stephen, my sump runs about 4" from the top, which is kind of close, but doesn't seem to cause any problems. All the loclines are drilled with two holes right underneath the waterline, so it breaks the siphone almost immediately. With all power cut so the the skimmer, chiller, and return line...

Tony, in that pic to the bottom left is a frog spawn, bottom right corner is a torch, the large green to the right of the tang is an open brain, and in the background blurred out is a rock covered in watermelon mushrooms. No pectinia though.
