they are reef safe from what i read but if they die in your tank they can release toxins if I'm remembering correctly. Cool fish

you want to drill a hole in the top and put some air line in it that solves the noise issue. This is how i did it, now i have the line looped in a circle and you cant see it. and it is super quiet. The water line adjusted a lower than in this picture
