I have done a few tanks now. It is not that hard of a job if you get the right materials. It takes a couple hours to scrape off the old silicone. 20 minutes or so to tape it. 5 minutes to silicone it, a couple minutes to retape it, a minute to pull the tape, and then two weeks to cure. It...

Only way to get rid of algaes is to get something that eats the algae. Even on the reef where conditions are ideal there are patches of algae protected by damsels. That is the only place algae grows. Why? Because the reef fish are eating the rest of the algae. Dropping nutrients might help...

I QT all fish that are not CB. I dip corals, I don't QT them. I QT my inverts in a strange way when I start a tank. After the snails/crabs go in I just have snails and crabs in the tank for the first 11 weeks. Gives any parasites time to die, and is actually kinda fun learning to appreciate...

It is food for the phyto. They need light and food. I've used the same one in the picture for like a decade.
