As the title says. Would pricking a coral at the base promote growth?

My clove polyps' tentacles are out (weak looking), however below the tentacles, they sort of shriveled. Frogspawn and zoas are still doing good. Any thoughts what may have caused this? Will post pics. Thanks.

Just witnessed my snail release a crap ton of white dots. I googled what this was and it appears to be snail babies or eggs/sperm. My clown fish is having a great time right now chomping them up.. Anyone have similar experience and did these white dots survive to become adult snails?
