    Jimbo’s CDA 250

Got some Orphek lens filters on Amazon, photos are so much better. Here is my ricordea garden. My latest Yuma addition. This one will be special when it grows big. Now smaller than a dime. My DIY loose rubble/mushroom basket. I had repurposed something that my wife was going to toss. I...

    Jimbo’s CDA 250

I did a bit of digging on R2R on this issue. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/high-silica-interference-with-po4-measurement.777022/ Looks like if Silicate is under 2ppm, there is no interference. So my Silicon is 0.4ppm, then the Hanna Checker should be accurate for Phosphate. On the actual...

    Jimbo’s CDA 250

This Costco vodka is a huge bottle 1.75L. The other places usually just carry the 750ml. $13 can last me awhile, so no complaints from me. LOL. (The fish may not be getting the full 1.75L though, I may have taken a few samples to check the taste.) Right now, I don't know if 400 ppb of...

    Jimbo’s CDA 250

It shows up as silicon, which tested as 410 ppb. But unsure if that is high or not. I do have some brown diatoms, but it very light dusting because I put in newly made frag plugs (E-Marco 400), and it usually gets brown in a few days. But my army of trochus snails are mowing it down. I may...

    Jimbo’s CDA 250

I've been using ICP-Analysis. I got 1 more test kit with them. I also don't see Fluride tested either. I may need to make a switch. How do you like the other ICP testers?

    Jimbo’s CDA 250

ICP shows Phosphate to be 0.03 ppm. But my Hanna checker shows 0.19 ppm I don't really trust the ICP test, which is crazy since it should be more accurate.

    Chuy’s Budget Noob Tank

Personally, I feel it's a bit easier to maintain a 8-9 dKh (most salts) than 12 dKh (RS Coral Pro). Anyways, the stability is more important than the salt brand. But as long as you keep it stable, most popular brands are fine. No need to overthink it, and keep it simple. Consistent water...

    New setup: AA 54x24x20 + 50x16x16 sump

Like on the bottom of your stand, you had some cross beams front to back. Did you add any at the top?

    Neptune Apex VS Hydros controller

For new reefer, I would say Hydros. But I already had the head unit that I was hording from way before, and just went down that rabbit hole. Now, it is too cost prohibitive to make the change. APEX has a steep learning curve with their coding, not great for non-techy reefers IMO.

    New setup: AA 54x24x20 + 50x16x16 sump

I think he means that if an Earthquake hits, and your tank weight starts going side to side...that stand may collapse sideways. You need something to prevent sideway movement like corner braces, even if it is added to the back corners. Also, the nails you screwed at the top, I can see it is...

    Chuy’s Budget Noob Tank

For a tank that size, I would stick with cheap but decent salt like Instant Ocean salt, and consistently water change. It will solve a lot of your problems from nutrient extort to keeping elements stable. This is why I suggested an AWC type of system, but if that is out of budget, then just...

    Red Flatworms on Torch

True. I wiped out my 1st tank using FWE. Do the dip, and see how many comes off. I think you'll be shocked how quickly they multiply. You don't want to just leave it alone. It can overtake your tank quickly without any control. One of the reason I keep the springeri damsel and yellow coris...

    Jimbo’s CDA 250

The powder brown, powder blue, and naso came from another reefer's tank that was exiting the hobby. And I was told they all got along in his tank. I added them about a month or two ago. But powders have been chasing each other ever since I added them to my tank. Now I don't know if the...

    Made some coral plugs

I've heard good things about Biodigest. I've been mainly using PNS Prodbio and Biospira.

    Jimbo’s CDA 250

My tank is definitely not calm. I don't know what the hell has gotten into my fishes. I expected the Powder Blue and Powder Brown tangs to fight a bit, but they are also chasing the smaller Desjardini tang. The naso tang is the pig of the tank, and he throws his weight around when getting...

    Made some coral plugs

Yeah, I'm using the E-marco 400, but my plug is covered in brown algae within a week. My tank may not be that mature (~6mo). When you say, you keep a good mix of bacteria, what bacteria are you dosing?

    Red Sea Reefer S1000

Dang! Your tank is looking nice and filled already. And awesome tangs! You definitely put in some work to get it this well dialed in. It's awesome when you can start a tank and have no issues like dinos or nuisance algae. I think that established live rock was the key.

Manually can be done as well. Just have to stay consistent.

FS: Royal Exclusiv Bubble King DC200 Skimmer with RD3 Pump - $600

I bought this barely used BK DC200 skimmer + RD3 Speedy pump in 2021 for my build, but never got to set it up or get it wet. You can check out the original transaction and photos in RC. https://forums.reefcentral.com/threads/bubble-king-dc-200-with-dc-pump.2040449/#post-29220406 I'll take an...
