Both skimmers you mentioned should be able to handle a 50 gallon tank fairly easily. If you can use those and get a fuge in as well, I think you'd be fine. Running a bigger skimmer would probably just be a waste. I have a 110ss on 45 gallons of water with 6 fish and it performs well.

I will need to start dosing 2-part soon...these pumps look great and very reasonably priced.
