    High Ca and Mg

I guess the previous owner of my 120g was just dumping ca and mg without testing cause they are skyhigh. I reused a lot of the old water, maybe around 80g of it and when I tested a few weeks later Ca was 540 and Mg was over 1500 (highest salifert went). I have done a 25g water change but didn't...

    Free RO unit

I upgraded so don't really need this anymore. It's the type used for drinking water so has no DI but can be added. 3 filters (nontransparent housing) and 50gpd membrane I think. It was making 36 TDS RO water when I took it offline so new filters needed. No pressure gauge or tds meter. Pickup in...

Can't get new powder blue tang to eat

It took about 2 weeks so yea it got pretty skinny. I could clearly see the spine and lost a bit of color. I was starting to think it was going to starve itself to death. Hopefully it'll perk up quickly so it won't come down with ich.

Can't get new powder blue tang to eat

It's finally starting to take frozen mysis thawed. It's also learned that it's feeding time when all flow is turned off too. Not quite a feeding frenzy yet like with a healthy fish but it's a good start.

Can't get new powder blue tang to eat

In the 20 it was mostly pacing back and forth on the left side of the tank. Like it was bored out of its mind. In the 40 it seems to be more relaxed. It still goes across the tank occasionally but it's more of a leisurely pace and not darting like before. No flashing but it does like to catch...

Can't get new powder blue tang to eat

It was straight from the wholesaler and was told it was eating. No meds in either tank. A Flame Angel was with it for a few days in the QT but they got along fine and it's now alone in the 40. I had a YT in there that I'm trying to rehome which I moved to the QT to avoid unnecessary aggression...

Can't get new powder blue tang to eat

Got him for about 1.5 weeks now but I have yet to see it eat. Started him in QT in a 20g but looked miserable so this past Sunday I move it to my 40g that I was preparing to break down. It seems a lot more comfortable now with the additional space, sand and rocks. But it still won't eat and...

    Lighting for 225g

If it comes down to having to use 2 fixtures you need to have them the same length cause the bulb wattage are different so the light output will be different. 48" will be 54w while 24" is only 24w and will be dimmer.

    Jan's Tropical fish review

Ever since jumping back into the hobby I've been stopping by here quite often since it's on my way home from work and is right off the 10 fwy. The place is still clean and brightly lit as usual. I have seen dead fish on occasion a few times so I think they need to improve on that and be more...

    Tank repair help (pane replacementl

If it was me I would not attempt to do it myself. Especially on a tank that size. Even if I had it professionally done I'd still leak test it outside for at least a month or two.
