    vBulletin is dead...

A good option. Doesn't have quite the same modding community, but does have a lot of extra products you can buy right at the outset (galleries, blogs, etc).

    #1 advice

#1 advice - buy the tank you can afford to equip and run. The tank is the cheapest part of the whole hobby. Don't buy a big tank that you can't afford to light, or run adequate water flow, or run a large enough protein skimmer on, etc.

Sebae Anemone or Carpet Anemone or Magnificent Anemone?

Good luck with the gigantea. They are my favorite clown anemone, but they are far and away the hardest to keep. They need intense lighting and strong flow. They are also a rock anemone, so they'll be up in your rock pile (versus down in your sand). May be a consideration if you keep SPS and...

    Bleached Anemone Help!

Yes your anemone is bleached. It has lost all its zooxanthellae. The only way to bring it back is to keep water conditions optimal and make sure you have decent lighting. Otherwise it doesn't look too bad. Don't let it starve to death while it doesn't have any zooxanthellae. You can raise a...

    vBulletin is dead...

I'm not gonna bash vBulletin - I used it for over 10 years. But I think people can honestly say the product is not what it once was. vBulletin 3.x dominated in its day, but vBulletin 4.x has been shaky (to say the least) and vBulletin 5.x has been a complete disaster. I didn't have anything...

    vBulletin is dead...

Guys you should seriously consider updating the site software. At least you should be patched up to vBulletin 4.2.2. There are some huge security holes in this site that you haven't patched. I'd hate to see it get hacked - I could probably do it if I wanted to and I'm sure there are folks out...

Lowest cost and easiest way to eliminate green hair, bubble, turf and slime algae

Well, if you've made a mistake, I've probably made the same one, or worse :) I'm all about the KISS principle now. If it can break, it WILL break, or flood, or burn out, or crash, or short, or spill, or clog :) I look at my tank and ask "will this tank crash if it goes 24 hours without...

Lowest cost and easiest way to eliminate green hair, bubble, turf and slime algae

Yes, it works. But the OP was asking "lowest cost and easiest". An ATS is neither low cost, nor easy, particularly if you consider the alternatives. All an ATS is is a nutrient sink, and an oxygen reactor. In my opinion, I just don't like the complexity. Many people run reef tanks without...

Drip kalk. Maintain high dissolved oxygen levels. Done.

    Anemone Sharing Thread

They don't come in blue. Green ones are common. Just bleach them out like your pinks, and you'll have a green transparent one.

    Update on Flame Inferno BTA

Keep us updated on this nem :) I sent your photo to Anna Scott and she thought it was pretty cool. It will be interesting to see if it maintains that color as it recovers from being stung...

New Shots of the New Shop!

You remind me of myself... there are times when I am more excited about my plumbing than my tank :)

    Jellyfish or Pod?

Yes it is very possible. Additionally, some larval forms of inverts may look like tiny jellyfish when they are in earlier stages of life. Have you recently added fresh live rock to your tank?

    Jellyfish tank

Moon jellies aren't that tough... if you are willing to dedicate an entire species setup to them. They are pelagic, so you have to have a setup where they will remain suspended in the water column always. They have setups at Long Beach Aquarium and Dana Point - I would recommend you check them...

So you want to grow your own clams?

Tonight I was looking through my files for good anemone papers, and I bumped into this paper on tridacna aquaculture. If you love tridacnids, you may enjoy reading all the steps needed to set up your own aquaculture business - including financial planning! Here it is

Thinking about getting an anemone, BUT...

I don't really know a good all-around anemone info source. The Anemone FAQ on Reef Central was an attempt to pull some stuff together and put it in an easy-to-understand format, but it is 8 years old now and needs to be updated. Nothing WRONG with the info, just there is more stuff that should...
