I've hooked up a ball valve from the stem of the return pump to re route some water back in, but it's not enough.

Any ideas on how to reduce the suction rate for return pumps. My return pump chamber can't keep up with how much water this thing sucks up.

Which products would you say work best in a phosban reactor? I am currently using bio pellets for phosphate and nitrate reduction, but am looking to switch it up. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure of the grain, I would say standard. And he was eating mysid/brine and I watched him eat. My tank is full of pods which I know they also eat. I also did a 20% water change before I added him.
