Is there anything comparable to Loc-Line? Also is there any difference between the black aquarium and the bright coolant colored ones other than color and price?

I want to raise my skimmer about 1 1/2" in my sump, I want to use something sturdier than egg crate, so I thought tiles might be an option. Just wondering if anyone knows if tiles might affect the water in a bad way.

Does anyone have any pics of a reef set up with black sand? I'm considering using it, but I haven't actually seen a set up with black sand, it just sounds like it would look good.

I've been reading on this forum for a little over a month and finally bought a set up this Saturday. So no pictures yet. Won't be doing anything with the tank other than running a pump for the next month or so.
