How would you go about removing this chalice from the back wall?

yeah it’s a rad piece! Just wish I had a bigger tank to continue to accommodate it. It’s getting a little crazy now lol. Biggest complaint is my snails try to ride the spinning return nozzle and end up wedged in there for a couple days until I see them and pull them loose. good call, skinny...

    Pygo’s lazy build thread

It’s been a while and I suddenly remembered I have a build thread that could use an update. Since my last post, I’ve had to tear down the tank, move it to my parent’s for a few days, then build it back up again due to getting my building fumigated. In the process, I sold the main chunk of rock...

How would you go about removing this chalice from the back wall?

This baby has grown like a champ in my abusive tank(by abusive, I mean not enough WCs and very little/irregular dosing. I also use the chalice to diffuse the flow on my water changes with unheated water, it does not care about anything lol). Plus, I moved the tank twice in one week for...

$5 Branching GSP, mushrooms and zoas

I trimmed back my GSP and it's just sitting in a pile in the corner of my tank, figured i should do something with it. pieces range from 2-6 inches. A couple rando, different mushrooms. Purple discos with light blue spots and stripes, a few rhodactis that have a tendency to bounce and color up...

How would YOU create some fuge space on this setup?

I did run a DIY scrubber for a while. It was pretty solid while it lasted, but could've been build with a little more love :P It's a good option and I'll probably revisit it some day. At this point, I want to try out some prettier macros instead of cultivating the enemy(GHA was my scrubber media)

How would YOU create some fuge space on this setup?

Yeah I like the HOB box idea due to simplicity and ease of maintenance. I’d probably attach a small submersible pump instead of an air pump. A little extra nutrient reduction is always nice, but I probably won’t rely on it for my main source of reduction. I just enjoy having macros, but they...

That's an interesting tidbit, I'll look into that approach.

How would YOU create some fuge space on this setup?

Shoot I didn’t realize these were that cheap. I’ve seen HoB fuges for sale, but usually $100+. I’ll definitely check these out 😎

How would YOU create some fuge space on this setup?

Man im an idiot for not trying one of those sooner lol. In my mind, I was essentially imagining the exact same thing, but trying to fabricate one from scratch. How’s the growth/what kind of light are you using? I imagine the tinted plastic isn’t ideal

How would YOU create some fuge space on this setup?

I have an IM 30 gallon long. She’s all good and stable these days, so I might not bother poking the beast right now. But, I’ve always wanted some fuge space or at least a chaeto reactor. More than anything, just a safe haven for pods to breed, if possible. Floor to the right of the tank is my...

GHA on underside of branching GSP

your gsp will be fine. I'm currently in the clear(fingers crossed), but I've had some horrible GHA in the past. It gets tangled in the GSP, then starts growing on the base of it. It can get irritated long term, but I would always just pull off the bulk of the algae from the coral(there would...

WTB Springeri Damsel or other flatworm eating fish

lol nice. I was taking an active approach previously, you shouldve seen the goofy setup I made. Basically zip tied my fish net to the discharge of a pump and attached some tubing to the feed side of the pump. That way it would catch the worms but recycle the water straight back to the tank. Like...

WTB Springeri Damsel or other flatworm eating fish

Sweet, thanks for the suggestions! And good looking out :P I would love for them to do their intended job, but im rarely that lucky lol. Although I have had good luck with peppermint shrimp and aiptasia. I do love possum wrasses but I’m a cheap bastard and don’t see them often anyway. I try not...

WTB Springeri Damsel or other flatworm eating fish

Certainly worth noting. But I don’t necessarily consider his experience to debunk them as being flatworm eaters. As with any pest eater/utilitarian fish, it ultimately comes down to the individual fish and the conditions of the tank. The flatworms he mentions are not the usual “red planaria”...
