OC MILF needs frags and any other help....

Hi Kim, What type of tank are you trying to set up? Soft coral, lps, sps? I am in your area and could give you a kenya coral tree frag, Xenia and mushrooms if you are interested. PM me if you want them.

Don't Majanos kind of look like miniature bubble tip anemones? I remember thinking I got a bonus on some rock one time until I found out what it was.:frusty::

what size should a beginner get?

I think it also depends on what you want to keep in it. A 100g tank looks pretty empty with a few sps frags if that is all you can afford. Soft corals and lps fill up more space and you can throw in a few fish to get the organic content of the water up. They are not so demanding as to water...

    Sand question...

Do red legged hermit crabs or coral banded shrimp eat nassarius snails? I put some in my tank and they all just seemed to disappear, can't even see their shells anywhere.

    ID Help Please

When you say "teeth" do you mean all around the outer edge? Does it open them up and then close them scraping stuff off the rock? I have had something like this and it just seems to graze around the hole it lives in (if it is the same). It doesn't seem to hurt anything. How big would you say it is?

DEATHMATCH: reef vs FW planted tank!!!

I am not sure which is more difficult to maintain as I have never had a planted tank. I have had a freshwater tank and I can tell you that you only have to watch both for about 15 min. and the reef is a hands down winner. Saltwater fish have much more personality/intelligence. Also combine that...

    Aptasia on my claim

Don't scrape it off while the clam is in the main tank!!!!! I have done a bit of reading on this. When aiptasia are stressed they release gametes into the water as a means of self preservation. You will have hundreds of little ones sprouting up everywhere (don't ask me how I know). If you are...

    just not feeling it anymore...

Yup, everything through the sump. New water, additives (Iodine, Strontium, Calcium etc.) everything. That way it gets well mixed. Also I often shut off the return pump in case I mess up. Then it is isolated to the sump which is easier to correct than the whole tank.

    just not feeling it anymore...

It's a good idea not to name your "new pets", at least not until you have been doing this for a while. When I started a lot of the problem was not getting/having enough information before making a purchase. Still remember that pretty sea apple that disintegrated and killed EVERYTHING in my tank...
