I would use a heater for cycling rock. I don't know that it's absolutely necessary, but a good idea. Extra P for a good cycle is optional :)

I'm a fan of eheim pumps for return pumps. The 1260 or 1262 if you want some extra juice. You will likely have to restrict the 1262 a bit or use the extra volume to run you reactors or other equipment. I've got a eheim 1262 on my tank that been on it for years. Its quiet and energy efficient...

I'm just using Kalk for the time being. I will probably add a two part dosing system when I get my Calcium load at a higher level.

Assuming the lid is one that the fish can't get out of, You may have a crab or another Predator in the tank. Fish can be pretty creative when it comes to jumping out. If you have one, Then carefully check the overflow, drain pipe and sump.

Look into brooklynella also called clown fish disease. If that's what you're dealing with then time is not on your side. Copper may not be the best treatment in that case. In my experience the diagnosis is the hard part. If you post a pic ,it might help people to give you some better feedback...

Thanks for the reply. I don't know much about welding, but it looks like you're putting out good work. I might just have to reskin my old stand until I can afford to upgrade ;)
