Poor planning on my part (Maxima clam stuck)

Update So on Saturday of last week I noticed the Maxima clam sitting on its side. Its foot was completely lifted off the ground, as you can see in the 1st picture. So I went to local coral store and bought a "starter kit" which had a white clam base made out of some sort of clay type material...

Clowns hosting - how to discourage

My two clowns have finally figured out who's the female. They used to host the thermometer at night time and they would swim around the tank in the daytime. Now they are hosting the thermometer and the "water intake" (in my JBJ 24ga nano tank) in the daytime. How do I discourage this...

Is my torch coral ejaculating or pooping or?

WOW That is one huge poop. Really? Do I scoop it out of the tank or will it cause nitrates to go higher?

Is my torch coral ejaculating or pooping or?

So this "string" of "fleshy brown material" just came out of my huge torch coral. The coral had like 6 heads when I got it.....2 died. I'm not sure what this is. thanks if you can help:

    Clowns shaking violently

I think I will wait until the balls drop on one or the other....then give that a shot. But it means I have to displace the nem from its rock....and.....eh.

    Clowns shaking violently

I could....but I don't have a QT tank set up. So the best I could do is a 3gal pico tank and "that rock" (that has the cave that houses the nem). How long would they have to be forced together for? Sounds like an interesting idea.... <<edit>> Oh I should note that the nem closes up at...

    Clowns shaking violently

Might as well ask noob question #2 while I got your attention..... Right now both clowns are hosting the upper top of the tank (by the heater) at night time. I got a (somewhat small) rose bubbletip anemone about 2 weeks ago and it's flourishing in a small rock cave near the bottom. Have you...

    Clowns shaking violently

Well the bigger "female" (don't think they're sexed yet....I think they're still working out who has the penis) is shaking in front of the male. And yeah....last time I chop and snort likes of coke above my fish tank...

    Clowns shaking violently

Hi, sorry for the noob thread.... But now both my clowns (the big one AND the small one) who have been in this tank now for about a month are shaking violently in front of each other in the day time. Is this trying to figure out who's dominant or is it a signal of bad water quality? The...

    Clown behavior

It's actually the bigger one who's extremely aggressive. I'm sitting on my couch watching "her" pick on the smaller clownfish by nipping "his" fins (quotes because I don't think they're sexed yet....just in the process of determining who is the girl). Is that normal? The aggression only really...

    Clown behavior

I sure hope it's the smaller one that turns into the man....it HAS to be the smaller one, right? the big one is an absolute tyrant.

    Clown behavior

What does it mean when a clown shakes violently in front of its friend? I got two immature clowns....one is bigger than he other and is a big bully. I was under the impression that shaking was a subordinate thing? Why would the bigger clown shake in front of the sub clown? Also....if you...

Poor planning on my part (Maxima clam stuck)

Done deal. I won't touch him. Yes, I do do occasional targeted feedings (by squirting a squirt of phytoplankton into the water) but I got a skimmer that pulls most of it out. Any tips on how to take TRUE to life color pictures with a Samsung Note 3 smartphone?

Poor planning on my part (Maxima clam stuck)

Wow....that's the exact opposite of what I was expecting to hear. Ok....well I will just monitor him. Yeah he's sitting under LED lights (stock) on my JBJ 24ga nano tank. I give an extra squirt of phytoplankton every now and then....in the high hopes it supplements his eating.

Poor planning on my part (Maxima clam stuck)

Also the clam is a lot better looking in real life....the mantle is a deep electric blue. My Android phone doesn't capture the proper color for some strange reason.

Poor planning on my part (Maxima clam stuck)

Whoops, I forgot to upload the pic. Here it is: As you can see, part of his mantle is "butting up" against the back of the rock he's sitting on. and please ignore the photo-bomber. He's an attention whore and thinks I'm some sort of slave that drops free food into his home every morning.

Poor planning on my part (Maxima clam stuck)

So I bought a Maxima clam about...2? months ago. I originally was going to go to Home Depot, buy a tile, then put the clam on it in the sand bed....so I could quickly move him around if I need to. Instead, I decided to get "artistic" and I put the clam on a piece of live rock that has a shelf...

    Cannot scrape algae off glass

Whoops I posted in the wrong thread. I went out and got a lawnmower blenny tonight. Drip acclimated him. Not sure how he's doing because it's lights out until 7am. I will probably use razor blade when I grow some courage to put my hand in the tank again. My clown was really attacking my...

    what are these?

I do 25% every 7 days. I use the ro/di with salt mix...I stopped using "Catalina water" after hearing some not so good stuff about it. I also got my skimmer running 24/7. I hopefully will get this under control. I went out tonight and bought a lawnmower blenny. My tank is under-stocked...

    Cannot scrape algae off glass

Wow, thanks for the great ideas everyone! With regards to lawnmower blenny....will he play nice with two clowns, one of which who is a female and a bully? She just turned into a female (I'm pretty sure) and she's got a mean temper. Also....I'm going to lower photo period and stop feeding so...
