I had some that were recently doing pretty good (medium tank, medium flow), but I didn't like the spot. So I moved it lower in tank, but apparently higher flow cause it just never opened up. Then....my potters angel ate it.
All I can say is this: the tanks I've seen that ran LEDs (i'm leaving the DIY stuff out of this), needed a pretty expensive setup cost to get the coverage and prevent the shadowing. An immediate tank that comes to mind is a 72 x 30 x 30 my friend owns, running 5 radions. Assuming you're looking...
I know this is essentially an old thread, but what affected OPs fish isn't velvet? that seems really aggressive to have 3 fish die that quickly due to ich.
I may consider parting with 1. I have 2 ornate leopards, 1 black leopard, 4 blue star and 1 potters wrasse, all eating and been in my tank for about 6 months. I just have to catch them.
if the MP40s were at the previous price point (400 or whatever) I'd say gyre. But now? Get a pair of MP40s and call it a day.
I had 1 gyre, and found that even with the amazing flow it provided, I still had some dead spots. You'd need a second gyre to stir up crap the other way.
If i plan on only nems, torches, hammers, frogspawn etc (basially, wavy stuff) do I need a CaRx? I also may add a couple SPS; not much though cause I'm new to reefing and the times i've tried SPS, they died
