I personally very much dislike (ok, hate) refugiums - unless you're willing to commit to a sizable volume vs your DT to be effective. Besides, it’s messy! I don’t want to prune chaeto/ macro algae every few weeks!

I think that pinning to evap rate is very unpredictable, esp at night when evap is at the lowest. That’s why I’m considering to dose kalk (or soda ash) via a stirrer. Yes, this will increase my alk/ca but I can throttle down the CaRx effluent/CO2 to compensate. Question is: if you were able to...

Ah got it. Cool guy! Known him for almost a decade now. Many of my SPS frags came from him. My frag tank is already getting direct sunlight, that’s how I light my mangrove. However, it’s not enough sunlight though.

Again, I’m not concerned but want to see if there is any growth/color difference if I stabilize/flatten out pH. I run a GEO CaRx and recirc CO2 scrubber. Thinking of adding an Avast K1/K2 to drip Kalk at night.

Well — no need for that. I just take a short 10min drive to Steve Garret’s house. He has 2 1200g combined tanks that can grow corals like mad! It’s probably cheaper to buy those frags vs building a tank myself. That said — would be cool to do but logistically very challenging to heat & cool...

I’m hoping to flatten out my pH curve. Mine swings between 8.2 to 8.5 — nothing is dying and I suspect it can’t be good either at +/- 0.3. Anyone doing kalk at night? If so, are you happy with the setup and what is your fav reactor for longevity, reliability, controllability, etc? Heard...

There are plenty of reefers in OC - why the rush? Tonight? :) I actually have colonies of hammers and a few torches (Dragon Soul, Cotton Candy, Hellfire) but need to cut over the weekend. I’m trying to make room for more carpet nems!

Interesting on nudibranch farming — it’s harder to farm aiptasias to keep nudi alive! What about farming colorful majano anemones? Those are cute little guys right? ;)

Without doing anything right? I used to feed mine when I first started this hobby! lol Perhaps give aiptasias cool designer names and drive the price up? How about “Holy Grail 24K Aiptasia”? ;)
