8" is the optimal depth for this skimmer IIRC. Water changes and running extra carbon will be your best bet.

Too bad that finnex stopped making these. They are much more attractive than anything they sell now...

FWIW: Am I the only one to notice that these dimensions make no sense? The tank looks like it is probably 30" long (30"x17"x7.5") , and the sump looks like a 20H (24"x12"x16"). Not that the pics don't speak for themselves... Anyhow, nice frag tank setup! GL with sale...
