I had that skimmer for awhile. You wont get realy thick skimmate. You'll pull a kinda tea looking color out of it. Some protein will build up around the rim of the cup, but after you clean it off, it would go back to being a pretty light skim compared to what you get from other protein skimmers.

You take a shot until you start seeing blurry, the algae will start to get blurry and mix in with the rock work, and voolaaa problem fixed. hahaha Just kidding, I would love to know more about this as well, this is the first time I have heard of vodka dosing. Sounds very very intriguing.

Yeah, I've done it. Krylon Fusion from ace hardware and let it cure. Then run some water in it for a few days, then empty it. You want to cure it without water for a few days first, then let try to pull out as much nutrients you can aftwards with some saltwater. Then rinse out with some RO/DI...
