I used those as well. I just wish they made them to read higher concentrations. All and all I am a big fan of fishless cycling as it really allows you to push the ammonia level way farther than you could with anything living in there. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Also I don't know how you are testing for ammonia/nitrates but just to keep things simple while cycling I found the cheap multi test strips to be the easiest. There is no need for high level accuracy when cycling IMO. Just need to know that the conversion is actually happening. Sent from my...

If you added bottled bacteria you may already be processing the ammonia. Test for it when you add it then test a couple of times a day. Ot should diminish and more or less go away by the next day. I had a tank cycle that quickly just last year. I was amazed. I used bottles bacteria and...

I think over the course of a day or 2 it would work itself out. The main reason I tink the salt makers want it premixed is to avoid anything settling, or precipitating out of the mix before itbis fully dissolved. This is probably less of an issue on the initial fill as you are not quite...

I have seen it done both ways but the mechanic in me is a stickler for following instructions. I am pretty sure all salt mixes recommend mixing the water before adding it to the tank. Then again if you don't have anything else in there??? Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

I have not had any fail me yet. I suppose my turn will come. I suppose it may be because mine are cycled daily turning the return off and on during feeding. Perhaps I will learn my lesson someday but, as of now my return nozzles are not deep enough to over flow the sump if the check valves...

Why not put a swing check valve in your return line? Or is that your drain? Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Red Sea Multi Test Kits (new)

These are great kits. I have them both. They provide very accurate and repeatable results. I use them as a cross reference to my Hanna color meters whenever I suspect that they are off. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

    Alkatronic question

Also just to be clear the Alkatronic is supposed to be used more as a monitor to keep tabs on your current automated dosing and only take action when that goes out of range. The machine comes with a switchable outlet that shuts down your dosing should the level get too high and has a spare...

    Alkatronic question

There is also a DIY test reagent recipe on R2R you can look up. If you use the DIY reagent you can make like 2 years worth(depending on test frequency)for like 20-30 bucks. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
