    All Dead - Update...

I here ya, problem is Ive never measured any ammonia spikes at home (API kit), nor has my LFS when they checked. This includes during the die-off. I should also mention that none of the [dead] fish were left in the tank for any length of time(maybe a couple of hours at the most). And in some...

    All Dead - Update...

Gumbii, you actually provided some of the feedback on my original post at the beginning of May.... I probably should have provided some additional details on this new post; the tank had been up and running for approx 15 months without incident. Upon returning from my vacation when the fish...

    All Dead - Update...

Bob, For over a year I used ocean water from my LFS without any issues. The refill is/was the same "natural" sea-water. RO is now from the LFS too. (I was previously purchasing it from a Glacier "vending machine" at my local market. For what it's worth, I did mention on my original post 5/5...

    All Dead - Update...

Detane, thanks for the reply.... Assuming hand lotion, chem-spikes etc. draining the tank should have taken care of it unless the rock absorbed enough to continue to kill-off the fish after the refill? Measured the voltage with a meter and assume any stray current has been removed with the...

    All Dead - Update...

Some of you may recall I had a disaster approx 1-month ago? (lost a years worth of fish over a weeks time). There were a number of good suggestions including bad RO water from a local vending machine. Based upon the feedback I drained the tank (approx 60gal) and refilled. Unfortunately I lost...

    stumped, ALL dead

Fish took a day or two to die.. My wife thought they were suffocating so added some airstones (see reply above). Lost fish included (in order); porcupine puffer, powder blue surgeon, ocellaris clown (2), niger trigger, singapore angel, naso tang........GOD that's DEPRESSING! :-(. Regarding...

Hmmm, perhaps this is the issue? Maybe I could do some testing for "metals" to see if this is the case..... Where do you guys get your RO? LFS? Thanks

    stumped, ALL dead

I don't have the exact levels cause everything tested out normal. Nothing has changed over the last 1.5years, water movement, temp etc. One thought was lack of oxygen so I added a couple of airstones, but had some die after that too. Thanks for the help... Lance

    stumped, ALL dead

~Gumbii, yes you replied twice... I posted the same question on the "chem" forum too. We also spoke a week or so ago on IM... (as you can see, still an issue!) Appreciate the "poly" suggestion. Is this something I can get from my LFS? Thanks again, Lance

Recently my wife & I went for a short vacation and had our son simply adding fresh water & light feeding while we were away. Within two days of returning home, my...

    Algae or ??

Wondering if anyone can identify the "algae" in the pics? The red is on some "old-school" coral skeleton. I was told it could be from poor water flow, so just redirected the returns.. The spider web looking stuff is on some live rock. Not sure if its the same white fungus as [r20crazy] has? The...
