    not always-- fish might outlive octo this species of octo is small only about a 7" long tenticle ,and happy to eat crabs, and shrimp I have at least 10 small crabs and 10 2-3" shrimp in the tank at all times, and he eats those at will, only when he is hungry, sometimes snacks on a hermit crab...

    you'll still need a 125 gallon tank for your octopus pretty soon -- I can't image confining one to a nano for very long
