forgot u have to look at reflector on some aswell. some reflectors will take a 400w hps but not a 400w mh stupid i know. they make conversions to make it work there like 15 bucks at a hydro shop hope this helps. btw 400w imo is way to much heat to the tank let alone the par there gonna put out...

digital ballast will fire hps and mh.so u could put a 14k in if u wanted just have to make sure its a digital ballast. some magnetic ballast have switches on the back and can fire hps/mh just have to look.
