I'm goin to be setting up my refugium soon and was also wondering the same thing. So if a DSB is used, what type of sand would work best (crushed coral or fine).

I didnt get any hair algae when I set up my BP either. Most important thing to remember is the hose exiting your reactor should be as close to ur skimmers pump as possible.

I had the same problem myself. What I did was dry the bottom part of the mushroom with a towel to get rid of the slim, then I glued it to the rock, but even that doesnt work all the time.....

I like my AI's but the controller for the Maxspect lookx a whole lot better than the AI's controller and the ability to adjust the angle on the Maxspect's tank mount is something i wish the AI could do.....

The pellets smell real bad though. Kinda like the dirty water from your sink when you fix the drain. I've taken the pellets out of the reactor b4 with no real bad smell, but this time it has a ammonia type smell t them.

So in moving all my coral, fish and equipment to my new 90 gallon set up. I forgot to set up the bio pellet reactor and when I finally did they smelled REALLY bad. I rinsed them out with ro/di water and cleaned the reactor. After doin all that though the pellets still smell a little. Should I...
