I could never get a really good foam head to form and get into the cup. I could only get it into the neck of the skimmer. Anything that ever went into the cup was super light. Since I added a smaller skimmer I am getting a darkish yellow skimmate.

Here is the skimmer as it sits now post vinegar bath. Here is the fixed leg. I'm not sure if you can tell but there is a line where the crack was. It's not really there anymore because of the weld-on.

This skimmer is a beast - too much for my 40g tank it turns out. I got a smaller skimmer and am letting this one go. Since it is $290 new, I think that $200 even is a great price for this skimmer. I would say that this skimmer would be good for a tank in the 60-100g range. Used for 3 months so...

That's what I have seen - blue new growth, red base, with greenish new growth. We will see how my frag responds to the T5s and eventual switch to my radion once it nears summer.
