I'm looking at upgrading my desk tank that I have at work. I was looking at the glasscages 36x18x8 shallow tank for $90, however, shipping is $113 and they charge $25 per hole they drill. I've looked into ordering glass to size but that seems just as expensive and it would be more work. So...

I want to build a 36"x18"x8" shallow, rimless tank for my desk but I wasn't sure if 3/8" was overkill for that size. 1/4" is cheaper but I don't want any problems since it's rimless. Let me know what you think. Also, it someone happens to have a tank in those EXACT dimensions, let me know...
