Hey guys/gals,

I'm mixing water as we speak and getting ready for my 120g 4x2x2 FOWLR tank. It should be up by the weekend, but I'll add fishes in 2 or 3 weeks while I cycle with some chromis. Now, I'm thinking of my stocking option and these are the fishes I want:

-Porcupine Puffer
-Niger Trigger
-Picasso Trigger
-Lionfish (Maybe)
-Tang (recommend me one)
-Snowflake or Zebra Eel

What do you guys think about that list? is that too many fishes for the tank?

If it's too many, which fish should I take out. I'm not taking out the Porky and the Niger cuz I love those fishes :proud:

Please cycle with some raw shrimp, not a live fish :( Take it slow, and wait out the complete cycle, not just a few weeks.

I loved feeding my eel when I had one, lots of fun.

If you stock w/live fish do it w/something more hardy than chromis, yellow tail damsels are pretty tough and they are one of if not the best behaved damsels

I would not even add damsels to my tank. They are just not desirable at all to me. They are the goldfish of the reef to me hahah.

Well everything is live, LR and LS, but I know there's always going to be a cycle in a new tank and hopefully not too bad.

ok I'll try with yellow tails. I was thinking if I get some chromis, after the cycle is done, I can put the chromis in my 40gal. If i get a damsel I don't want to risk it and find out I have a damsel from hell.

But the real question is, is that stock list fine?

If you have enough fully cured LR, you should not have any problem adding fish. Just like a tank transfer.

You will have a very tough time catching the fish if you already have rocks in the tank, unless you are planning on taking them out to catch the fish. Cycling with fish you aren't keeping in the same tank is asking for trouble, I think.

In terms of your stock list, my question is will you be running a skimmer? I don't think it too much for a 120 at all. If you run a skimmer, you can add more fish. Of course, everything will also depend on the size of the fish you want to add. I personally always like yellow tangs. They are the most common but also the most striking in a tank.

I have a FOWLR, I have a black lion 12", red lion 5", clown trigger 8", white tail trigger 4", niger trigger 3"and a yellow belly puffer 6", forgot the snow flake eel 8", I've never had a problem with the triggers and lions, I've had FO since 1986 and always had lions and triggers together, BTW These are in a new 135g tank, with a 50g sump/refugium and asm g1x skimmer, I just got the black lion, clown trigger and the puffer from somebody who had them together for the last 2 years, Maybe it depends on the triggers themselves.
