I got a 250 watt M H hamilton light but it makes my tank look yellow. Do I need to get a different kind of light bulb? Or should I add some blue florescent? Any ideas?

I have tryed the 15K bulbs from hamilton and I dont like them either for the same reasion you dont. I use xm 14K and now I am moving to t-5 for better colors.

Yeah check out the Kelvin rating it's probably 10 - 12K bulb

Try 14K Phoenix or 20K Ushio just to mention a few

I added a blue florescence light, that didn't work. The yellow over powers it. I also have a 24 gallon nano cube, and that only has two white and two blue florescence and that tank looks great. I tried putting the 250 M H over the nano with original nano lights on and the 250 M H made it look yellow. Should I just buy some white and blue florescence for the tall 30 gallon. I want to eventually put corals in the 30 gal, so I want a decent light, but having a dirty looking yellow tank is not worth it.

You can try a different bulb or additional actinic lighting (or both). You would probably get about the same thing if you took the "blue" bulbs out of your nano, just not as bright.

If you decide to change out the bulb do some research, and ask for people opinions. There is even an argument that the bulb you have may be better for growth so supplemental actinic lighting might be the "best" way to go. There is no single answer so do your research and decide what is best for YOU and YOUR tank.

Alright so on Monday I am going to order a Hamilton 250w 14000k Bulb. They claim it has an actinic blue color. Should I go with this or would it be better to put the 14k phoenix with my Hamilton setup?

If your looking for a little blue without adding supplement lighting and sticking with all hamilton setup go with there 20k bulbs, 14ks have run anywhere from white with a tad bit of yellow to white for me.

For me using hamilton setup.. 250w Cayman pendants, hamilton m80 ballast and 14k pheonix 250w bulbs. Still on the whiter sde of things with a blue hue. I am looking into something something that will add some actinic blue for the colors to pop. Pheonix14k has some blue color but not a actinic like blue, some colors seem to get washed out, some reds, yellows, and greens look a little pale in color for me but still show quite well.

Next trying XM20k bulbs to see if that makes it better before adding actinics. If that doesnt work then adding actinics. Would have been easier just going with galaxt ballst with radium bulb (SE bulbs) I could just get new reflectors/sockets and use radium but hamilton m80 ballast i have burns them whiter than a galaxy but you still get actinic pop from the bulbs.
