I have a 50g cube 24x24x20 with two MP10's on opposite sides of the tank. For the past few months I've had an outbreak of green cyano that I've attributed to flow. It resides mostly on the sides of the tank and not on the sand bed. My rockscape sits back and at the center of the tank with the two MP10's on opposite sides, creating a high flow area on top for SPS. My nitrates and phosphates both read zero and I'm a pretty light feeder.
Part of the problem is that the live rock I used was pieced together so there are a lot of open places where the cyano gets light and grows. Part of my solution to this cyano will be to hit the rock with a turkey baster weekly before water changes to prevent detritus from building on the rock, which I've been slacking on. This type of cyano is really difficult to syphon even with small tubing and doesn't come off as easily as the red cyano.
Thus far, my conclusion is detritus buildup feeding the cyano.
So my question for you guys is...what would be the best placement for my MP10's? Logic would dictate that I put both of them on the back wall, one on each side of the tank to hit the dead spots, but I'm afraid it won't be enough flow at the top if I set them low where the dead spots are.
Any suggestions?
