Anyone interested in an ABC reagents group buy? Was planning on grabbing the 4-gallon mix. Pickup would be in South OC or at next reef club/show.

Also, where do people tend to get their calibration solution?

You don't get calibration solution anymore. Just do the test on your tank water with your Salifert / Hanna test kits, and load that onto the calibration setting in Trident.

btw: how accurate is your ABC reagents using those DIY gallon mixes? My alk was way off by 1dKH so likely pilot error when I mixed them? Well, it's too late now so what I see in Trident, I'll just subtract 1dKH from it... ha

Aren’t you supposed to calibrate?

You could then calibrate the trident with the ABC reagents using the Hanna readings to get them to match, no?
I’m confused.
Trident: 9 dKH
Hanna: 8 dKH

I’ve “calibrated” and told the trident that it’s really 8 dKH. The next day, my tank drifted (too much kalk) so what is the true reading again?

My reagent is still “bad” since I haven’t fixed the issue. What am I missing?

You basically test with Hanna/Salifert for Cal/Alk/Mag. Then you enter those values into the Trident calibration in APEX...and let it calibrate. So whatever Trident measures at that point, it will use the Hanna/Salifert values. So that's using the tank water as calibration.

Uh I know - been doing this since I got the Trident (and NP).

My question is this: how reliable is the result if I used another calibration fluid (tank water) vs what the sample set as a baseline? Is the Trident is offsetting and “guess” at future tests? As a reminder: my reagent is already off by 1dKH since I didn’t mix it correctly.

Sorry - I’m the slowest one on this forum.
