i dont know how i feel about spending 2k on a return pump. ive been using L1 for over 5 years now and its still going. i could buy 3 for 15 years and still have money left over.

i could see it if money wasnt an object but even then i think i would rather run 2x L1/L2 over 1 of these.

trust me it was hard to bite the bullet on this one.

2 main reasons i got it were,
this pump will drop my electricity bill by 40%
the hammerhead hums noticeably through the garage wall so i want to have it dead silent and this pump will do that

this is replacing a Hammerhead that runs everything :
300 gal display
2 - 48 x 48 x 18 frag tanks
1 - 48 x 40 x 20 look down tank
monster cal rx
57 uv
40 gal refugium
40 gal rubble rock bin
3 - XL media reactors

Trust me I know how you feel. I told my self back in the day when Tunze 6100's came out that I would never spend $1000 on powerheads but after messing around with Koralia's, MJ mods and Seio's the 6100's was the Bentley of PH's and they are built like a tank. One of the best purchases i ever made. No rusting out in your tank and the only parts you did buy once in a blue moon was a impeller. Hell I still have 3 old school Tunze's in my goodie box. Too me I don't mind spending good money on something is going to last but half the name brand well favored shit in this hobby is garbage but are cherished like the holy grail. Germans built and sometimes overbuild stuff to last so that pump may last years like the Old School and it it may pay for itself over and over....

Haha, I think we would all be running this pump if it was more affordable. I'm sure it's a killer pump. Enjoy it!

Coralvue has been helping me for a week to get the right adapters.

now o to find a decibel meter so i can measure the noise compared to my current Hammerhead Hybrid

well... i got this plumbed in and oh course, theres a leak. so my dumbass uses Red HOT PVC glue around the volute.

yup you guess it. melted it and now i need to order a new one.

i will say that the short time i ran this pump, it is DEAD quiet. cant hear it at all , had to put my hand on it to see if it was running
best part is I went from a Hammerhead at 370watts to Abyzz 400 at only.....

so i finally got the parts i needed that i ruined to get this beast running.
all i can say is , its worth the money for sure. its the same flow as the Hammerhead i swapped it with.

Hammerhead:(
370 watts
loud running hum through wall to living room
no fine tuning flow adjustment
big / bulky
runs hot to touch

Abyzz:)
125 watts
dead quiet, can even hear it when im next to it
can fine tune by 1% flow adjustments
1/3 the size of hammerhead
runs cool to touch

now to see the next electric bill as this could pay for itself in a year with the huge decrease in running wattage difference :cool:

I would think your bill probably won't see that much of significant drop. Most of your power is probably still in the lights and heaters.
