Well its getting hotter so I wanted to make it a little safer for my tank. I decided to upgrade to four fans instead of the stock two that comes with the 105 watt quad compact Nano hood. When I was looking at my tank I couldn't figure out why they would only use two fans when you can put four in especially when these quad bulbs get as hot as they do. It's very easy to upgrade so I figured I would share.

I purchased the replacement fans from petstore.com its local (Garden Grove) and I knew it would ship fast.

Item #JB7371
JBJ 28 GALLON NANO CUBE HQI - REPLACEMENT FAN (2 PACK) 1 $21.24

Here are the steps I took (Click on the pictures to enlarge)

After taking the top off I noticed that on top of one of the fan mounts was the ballast for the led/fans this had to be removed to place the fan on the right side.

So what I did was unscrew the two screws and mounted it next to the ballast for the CF lights. There is only one hole to screw it into but setting it partway on the other ballast seems to work just fine (I didn't want to have to rewire or drill into the top) and the one screw is holding nicely.

After relocating the small ballast I went ahead and plugged in the fans to make sure they would work before screwing them in.

Here is the location.

You have to remove these little sticky disk they use to cover the unused fan holes. Just peal them off.

Here is a picture of one of the new fans in action.

Well after adding new fans and relocating the ballast here is the work that was done.

Top and and good to go!

I'm Not sure if this upgrade was posted before, I couldn't find anything but I hope someone can see how easy this cheap upgrade is to do.

FYI I am not an electrician, feel free to comment.

Thanks, Chris
