I’m looking to add some live sand to a 60g BB tank for a jawfish. Maybe 5 lbs of live sand into a small corner. Question is whether if there is a brand of live sand that I can add in directly without causing a mini cycle?

Don’t think your idea will work. I doubt the sand will stay in place.L not would that be enough for a fish with this plan. Live sand shouldn’t cause a cycle btw. You can try Tupperware with sand.

It won’t cycle but holy crap is your tank going to become super cloudy no matter what. Straight dust fest. Caribsea special grade is probably best unless you’re high flow then you need crushed coral.

I have added live sand without my tank getting all cloudy. If you don't have to much rock, lower the whole bag of sand in to your tank. Turn you pumps off for a few min. Slit the bag open as wide as practical at the bottom and let the sand gently flow out. The other way is to use some sort of plastic container and slowly lower it in to position and pour it out. This takes longer and is more likely to cloud the water. Add the packet that comes in the bag and it will clear up pretty quickly.
Add some rubble rocks for the jaw fish to build its cave.

I recommend putting the sand in at a rate of an hourglass spread it around and around the rocks, just poke a small hole in the bag and have a holder in place so you dont have to hold it very long. you will get just a little cloudy but it will go away.
