hey all ive only been into reef set ups for about 7 months but ive always kept fish, well finally convinced the wife to let me set up a saltwater tank, its just a 24 nano but its a start, its been set up for some time, and im ready to upgrade, ive been reading tons of stuff and soaking uo all the info i can from you guys, theres def lots to learn, well heres a few pics, its set up a bit different know i cant seem to leave it alone for very long, im just starting to fill it with life, the guy i got it from had very little in it ...thanks//Kevin oh does anyone know what the orange coral is i think its a sun??

welcome i just hope you didn't tell your wife that this is a very addicting hobby and expensive the trick is get her into it make her choose the fish or something well hope you enjoy

I might suggest that you try to make one of your "local" club meetings. Even if all you do is meet other people, it's well worth your time. You can learn a lot more in an hour of face time with someone than you can with a week of emails...

I don't see where you're located, however there are clubs pretty much all over.

So, where are you from?

The orange coral look's to be a branching Tubastrea(Sun Coral).
i agree with the id. and in case you don't know about these corals, they are not reliant on light like most corals, you have to actually feed them, each orange part is a mouth, and they need to be fed individually.

Try IEMAS (www.inlandreefs.net). I believe Keith (Stile2) lives out in your neck of the woods. No meetings "out there", per se, however there are monthly meetings in Ontario now. The IEMAS forum here has a bit more info...

Hopefully you'll be able to make some meetings or at least find someone local to help you out on occasion...
