It is my understanding that once it's cured, all silicone is safe for aquarium use. The main thing you have to concern yourself with is what kind you need for what application. For example, not all silicone will adhere to glass and not all will adhere to acrylic and in circumstances where you are working with glass and acrylic, such as a glass tank that you are going to DIY into a sump with acrylic baffles, you have to make sure you use a silicone that will adhere to both.
I could be wrong but read a lot on this on RC when we drilled our tank and installed an internal overflow box.

I heard that too but when you read the fine print of that silicone is says not to use it on an aquarium, I just rather play it safe and buy the other one even if I have to buy a few of them.
Ge silicone 1 clear 100% silicone says on the bottle to not be used under the water line in an aquarium. I called the company and they said it is 100% aquarium safe but years ago had to remove that claim off their bottle. The reason was people were filling lawsuits because there seams did not hold. So basically the product is aquarium safe but people did not use it correctly. Just make sure it is

Ge silicone 1 (doors, attics, windows) 100% silicone (no mildew inhibitor)(blue and white tube)

I have built both of my sump/refugiums with this and built another 3-4 for others. I actually am building two more today using that same product. Just make sure you give it the full 24 hours to cure, then water test the hold.

I have used ge1 windows and doors for all my sumps and just used it on my current sump. No problems ever in last 5 years
