First the heart ❤️ and lungs of the system; the sump and equipment. I’ve always loved having custom builds that are build around the equipment I have in mind, so I reached out to the builder and after months and months and months of waiting it was finally ready.

I personally love having room to work on my sump and equipment. It’s super convenient to be able to access everything without breaking my neck or twisting my back (cuz I’m old and everything hurts) to get to a piece of equipment or plumbing; I made the stand TALL at 43”.

2” Square tubing with epoxy coat, and detachable magnetic 🧲 skin.

There are great selections of lights on the market today. I went with Kessil A9X because of the blend and spread along with the controllability of the units. I plan to have clownfish and easy coral, so one light is enough for this application.

Aquascape aka rock work.
I’ve been a huge fan of large boulder pieces so I’ve been stashing away some rock since the early 2000’s when I worked at wholesalers and was able to import the sizes and locations I needed it from. I wanted a lot of caves, bridges, and cliffs for the fish to hide and feel safe in, so this scape

really worked out for me.

Looks great! Hefty amount of rock you've got brewing in there as well. Where are you at in your cycle and add fish/coral timeline?

Cycled the tank for 4 1/2 months. Started with dry rock and added bacteria 🦠 to jump start the process, until all the testing was on point for fish. I’m currently two weeks into month number 4, and I’ve added 4 clownfish to the tank so far, they are doing well.
I’ve always been big on large porous rock 🪨 in the display and a large sump section filled with rock 🪨. I’ve used this method in my personal tanks and in wholesale or retail systems I’ve designed or worked on.
This method has worked for me, but I know we have a lot of new products out on the market now with large surface areas. TBH i just like having a lot of rock 😬

What up D?! Looking good and welcome back to the game lol
I miss you brother!!! Yes,
back at it. But after working in the import and export of coral/fish/inverts, seeing the hobby prices is crazy to me because I know what it really costs to land livestock for, but I also understand that people have to eat lobsters, steaks, and sushi for breakfast 😅.

hope you and the family are well. Let’s trade coral soon.
